Pool Algae Removal in Weatherford, TX
Green water doesn’t fix itself. Once algae takes over your pool, it spreads fast and regular chlorine won’t kill it.
Algae grows when your chlorine drops too low, your filter isn’t running enough, or your water chemistry gets out of balance. In Weatherford’s heat, a pool can go from clear to green in two days if conditions are right. Rain adds phosphates that feed algae. Hot weather depletes chlorine. A clogged filter stops circulating water properly. All of these create the perfect environment for algae to bloom.
We remove algae completely—not just make your water look better for a few days. That means killing the algae, removing the dead matter, fixing whatever caused it to grow in the first place, and preventing it from coming back.
Complete Algae Treatment and Prevention
Most pool owners try to fix green water by adding chlorine and hoping for the best. That rarely works because different types of algae need different treatments.
Green algae is the most common. It floats in the water and coats the walls, turning everything a cloudy green color. Black algae roots itself into plaster and pebble-tec, forming dark spots that are stubborn to remove. Mustard algae looks like yellow or brown dust on shady parts of your pool and comes back quickly if you don’t treat it aggressively.
We identify which type you’re dealing with before we start treatment. Green algae needs heavy shocking and good circulation. Black algae requires scrubbing with steel brushes to break through its protective layer before chemicals can kill it. Mustard algae needs special algaecide and extra brushing in corners and on steps where it hides.
Your filter has to be clean before algae treatment works. A clogged filter can’t remove dead algae from the water. We backwash or clean your filter, then shock your pool heavily—usually two to four times the normal dose depending on how bad the algae is. We brush all the surfaces to break up algae colonies and help the shock reach every part of your pool.

Pool Maintenance
Preventing algae is easier than removing it. Our regular maintenance includes testing chlorine levels, checking filter performance, brushing surfaces weekly, and adjusting chemistry before algae can start growing. Consistent care stops problems before they turn your pool green.
Aledo and Brock pools face the same algae risks Weatherford pools do. Summer heat, afternoon storms, and heavy pool use all create conditions where algae can take over fast if maintenance gets skipped.
Pool Cleaning Service
Algae removal takes several days, not one treatment. We shock your pool heavily on day one, which turns the water cloudy as algae dies. Day two we vacuum all the dead algae off the bottom—this step can’t be skipped or the algae just rots in your pool and feeds new growth. We shock again, brush thoroughly, and check filter pressure to make sure it’s handling the extra debris.
By day three or four, your water starts clearing. We test chlorine levels to confirm they’re staying high enough to prevent regrowth. If chlorine keeps dropping, there’s still algae in the system consuming it. We continue treatment until chlorine levels hold steady for 24 hours.
Weatherford pools with persistent algae problems usually have an underlying issue. Your filter might be undersized for your pool. Your pump might not be running long enough each day. Or phosphate levels might be feeding algae growth faster than chlorine can kill it. We test for phosphates and remove them with specific chemicals designed to eliminate algae’s food source.
Black algae is the hardest to remove. It forms protective layers that regular chlorine can’t penetrate. We use steel brushes on plaster pools and stiff nylon brushes on vinyl to scrub off the protective coating. Then we apply chlorine tablets directly on the spots and let them sit for several minutes to kill the roots. This process gets repeated until every black spot is gone.
Pool surfaces matter when treating algae. Pebble-tec and exposed aggregate pools have tiny pores where algae roots deep. We brush more aggressively and use stronger concentrations of shock in these pools. Vinyl pools can’t handle steel brushes or certain harsh chemicals, so we adjust our methods to protect the liner while still killing the algae.
After removing algae, prevention starts immediately. We add algaecide as a backup to chlorine, run your filter longer each day for a week, and brush your pool twice during the first week to catch any spores trying to regrow. Most algae blooms happen because something stopped working right—low chlorine, dirty filter, or inadequate circulation. We fix the root cause so you don’t fight the same battle next month.
Summer is peak algae season in Parker County. Temperatures above 85 degrees speed up algae growth. Kids swimming all day deplete chlorine fast. Afternoon thunderstorms add phosphates and dilute your chemicals. We increase our service frequency during summer months for pools prone to algae, checking chemistry twice a week instead of once.
Your pool equipment affects algae growth too. A variable-speed pump running on low speed all day circulates water better than a single-speed pump running six hours. Better circulation means fewer dead spots where algae can grow undisturbed. We evaluate your equipment setup and recommend changes if your current system isn’t keeping water moving well enough.
We serve Parker County families who want their green pools turned clear and kept that way. Whether you’re in Weatherford, Aledo, Brock, or nearby areas, we bring the aggressive treatment methods and ongoing prevention that stops algae from ruining your swimming season.
